Best Baby Carriers
Babies LOVE to be held. As a first time mom I felt like I needed to be prepared, register and purchase a variety of carriers before the baby arrived. We ended up with just about every product on the market and wish we knew beforehand the "must haves" and those to totally skip.
Most parents swear by their carriers so you cant go wrong adding one to your registry. If we had purchased just one we probably would have loved it and stopped there but having the chance to try out so many we learned there are FOR SURE differences and benefits.
TYPES OF CARRIERS
WRAPS: A super-long piece of fabric you configure and tie around your body, usually over your shoulders and around your mid-section, to create a carrier. Those origami type wraps you see moms wearing.
SLINGS: wide fabric that goes over one shoulder and across your torso.
STRUCTURED CARRIERS: More like a backpack with straps over the shoulder and a padded carrying “pack” that can be placed on your chest or back.
Here are our absolute favorites and why:
#1 ErgoBaby 360 - FAVORITE CARRIER
If you buy just one, buy this: ErgoBaby360. Make sure it's the 360! As it's name suggests, it's the most ergonomically friendly carrier which is super important when you're body is lugging around additional weight on various sides of your body. Also, it allows the baby to sit in a natural position whether they are facing you, facing out, on your back or hip. The most versatile carrier. Has the option to add on the infant insert so it can take you from baby to toddler.
#2 Wildbird Sling - FAVORITE RING SLING
THE BEST is Wildbird. They make a gorgeous ring sling from pure linen. The fabric breathes - so you and your little one don’t become a sweaty mess. This was a big thing I wouldn't have known before purchasing any carrier....your little one is a furnace and the wraps/carriers/slings heat you up even more. The more we use it, the softer it gets.
#3 K' Tan - FAVORITE WRAP
The Baby K’tan has the benefits of a wrap, without you having to actually do any wrapping. AVOID the Boba. Well, unless you like spending forever watching YouTube videos on how to wrap this origami material into a bunch of layers and then become a sweaty mess with all that fabric :). The K'Tan is made of a 100-percent natural cotton (with a bit of stretch!), this soft carrier keeps little ones close, cozy and with just a couple simple steps.
#4 Baby Bijorn - FAVORITE STRUCTURED CARRIER
Baby Bijorn = Best "hiker" as we like to call it. My favorite friend ever, Brooke Tagliaferro, gave us SO much baby stuff and this was one of the items she gifted us. We took it to Jackson Hole, WY when our lil guy was just 6 weeks old and it was perfect for hiking all day in the mountains. Feels the most bulky but structured, safe and durable for out on adventures. Not one you'd want to wear around the house or grocery store but if you're planning to be outdoors this is a great one to have in the closet.
